Avalos Marble & Granite Tile |
No. We do not sell slabs of stone. We can recommend some places for you to go to. We only do the fabrication and installation. However we do have remnant pieces (left over from previous jobs). |
Once we have the material and the template, in our shop, the turn around time is typically 10 working days. If we can install it sooner, we will. |
A wood template is used to get the exact measurement of the area that the stone is being fabricated for. It is similar to a stencil. We take a template right before we cut the stone in order to ensure that the job is done exactly as the customer wants. Note: A template can not be done until new cabinets (if applicable) are installed. Plywood (5/8”) needs to be put down before we can do a template. |

What common stone type should be used in what setting? |
Granite - is ideal for kitchen countertops. It is scratch resistant and hot plates can be placed directly on the countertop. It is also resistant to household acids such as citrus and vinegar. Marble - is good for interior floors, walls, and counters. It is not recommended for kitchens because it is vulnerable to household items such as citrus, vinegar, catsup, and other food-related products. Marble is a softer stone that can be scratched. Limestone - is good for bathrooms, fireplaces, counters, and less-traveled flooring. Similar to marble, it is not recommended for kitchens because it is vulnerable to household items such as citrus, vinegar, catsup, and other food related items. |

Do the cabinets have to be installed before you template ? |
Yes. Cabinets need to be installed before the templates are taken to ensure that the measurements are correct before we cut the natural stone. |
